Using plans to build your skateboard ramps have a lot of advantages especially if you are skating at a mid to advanced level and need more challenging ramps.

The biggest advantage is definitely cost.  It is much less expensive to build a ramp from plans than it is to buy a ramp (although generally speaking buying a skateboard ramp is easier.)
